man pondering...: • Born – third son, younger sister • Grew up a Catholic (struggled with Mass because I had undiagnosed ADHD) • Teenager with mystical experiences • Rabid anti-materialist in my early 20’s (still a mystic) • Started to collect and read other religious material (Bhagavad Gita, Qur’an) • Started studying biology at University (LOVED it) • Began to question my need for my ‘personal relationship with Jesus’… • Had a baby; love my daughter (yes I was married – I was still a good, well maybe not so good, Catholic - remember!) • ...Decided to become an atheist as I couldn’t figure if I needed Jesus because Jesus existed (God is real), or I created Jesus because I needed God (God is imaginary) • Post-graduate studies in biology • Got divorced • Started therapy (still an atheist) • Many years of therapy (a slow spiritual re-awakening) • Spontaneously discovered meditation after a personal crisis • Post-graduate studies in business • Discovered Buddhism and deepened meditation practice • Got ‘Easterned-out’ after many years • I remain a wandering mystically-inclined individual with no particular spiritual community... (yes, it is lonely!)
